Predicting Ian Jackson's Stats for St. John's Basketball in 2026-27

What will Ian Jackson be able to do in his second season with the St. John's Red Storm?

With the college basketball season quickly approaching for the St. John’s Red Storm, there are still a lot of questions surrounding the program. However, regardless of the eligibility of some players, the team has the talent to compete. 

Entering year four with Rick Pitino as the head coach, St. John’s is hoping to take another step in the right direction. So far, there has been improvement made every season with the legendary coach on the sidelines. 

With back-to-back Big East titles and a trip to the Sweet 16 last year, the goal will be to go a little further in the NCAA Tournament this year. That is never an easy task, but this program has a ton of potential. However, looming eligibility concerns could decimate the roster and really limit the ceiling of the team. 

While some players who have committed might be ruled ineligible, there is still talent on the team and reason to believe they can have a good year. 

One player who was recently praised by Pitino was guard Ian Jackson. The young guard didn’t have the year he was hoping for last season, but with him moving off point guard, there is reason to believe that he might have his breakout campaign in 2026-27. Let’s take a look at what his stats for this coming season could be. 

Predicting Jackson’s Stats

After a strong freshman year with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Jackson was a big addition for the program last season. However, he saw some of his production drop and was in a role that didn’t suit him well. 

With point guard play being an issue for the Red Storm, the team tasked Jackson with running the offense at times. This didn’t help position him to succeed, but he will be moving back to the wing this coming season. 

Last year, Jackson averaged 9.4 points per game and saw his shooting percentages drop significantly from his freshman season. Jackson shot just 40.9 percent from the field last year, which is certainly a number that St. John’s will want to see improve. 

Overall, as Jackson gets ready for his third year in college, he is going to be a key piece for St. John’s. There is certainly room for him to improve heading into year three, and the program will be counting on him to be a big part of their success.
