Former USC lineman Viane Talamaivao hired as Stanford's offensive line coach
Troy Taylor took his time putting a staff together following his hiring, which was just days before early signing day, but one of his staffers was lured to greener pastures. Offensive line coach Klayton Adams, was hired by Taylor on December 13, but ended up heading back to the NFL to be the Arizona Cardinals' offensive line coach.
A tough loss for the program considering how much experience he had to offer, but Taylor went a different route this time around. He went for youth, as it was reported on Monday by On3 that Former USC lineman Viane Talamaivao will be Stanford's offensive line coach. The former four-star and top-100 recruit has quickly ascended up the coaching ranks, as he was recently hired at Northern Arizona following this past season where he was a grad assistant at Oregon.
During his playing days, Talamaivao was named a Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree and Freshman All-American, while starting 37 games at guard for USC between 2014 and 2017 before spending time with the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2018 NFL season. While he was a Trojan, USC went 38-16 overall and 27-9 in the Pac-12 with two appearances in the Holiday Bowl, one in the Rose Bowl and one in the Cotton Bowl. During his senior year, Talamaivao won the team's Trojan Commitment Award.
Talamaivao will be crucial in developing what will be a very inexperienced offensive line that is set to have at least four new starters this next season.
