WATCH: Vols surprise Josh Heupel with birthday celebration
New Tennessee coach Josh Heupel turned 43 on Monday, and the Vols — led by wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. — surprised their head coach with a celebration.
The greeting included cake, balloons, a quick dance party and a remixed version of “Happy Birthday,” as the players reminded their coach of his own saying: “Every birthday matters.”
Although Heupel seemed to enjoy the surprise, his greatest present might not come until Thursday.
If his offense translates to Tennessee’s roster as well as some have predicted, Heupel could be in for quite a gift when the Vols hit Haslam Field for their first spring practice Thursday afternoon. Those practices will conclude on April 24th with the Orange and White spring game.
