Can the Tennessee Volunteers get past the March Madness mountain?

The Tennessee Volunteers will play their first game of the big dance on Thursday against the Saint Peters Peacocks, a Cinderella team. Tennessee enters this game as a two-seed in the region, meaning they will play the 15th-seed team, the Peacocks. The Volunteers have lost their last two contests, first to Kentucky and then to Mississippi State, which tragically happened in the SEC conference tournament.

Tennessee and head coach Rick Barnes have been quite unlucky in March. The last time around, they made a solid run that landed them a Sweet 16 spot, which they blew against the Florida Atlantic Owls. Tennessee has never made it past the Sweet 16; however, the Peacocks did two seasons ago in their historic Cinderella run, in which they even defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, who were not only a fan favorite but also an odds favorite to win the tournament.

Dalton Knecht is a player to watch in this game, as it’s his first March Madness game ever. The March Madness page even listed him as the second-best player in the bracket being only behind Purdue standout big man Zach EdeyZakai Zeigler is another name to watch. He will be taking on his brother, Armoni, a freshman at St. Peters.
