Tennessee 2026 QB Dominoes Falling Early

The Tennessee Volunteers are in the midst of races for several 2026 quarterbacks, and they got some major news over the weekend.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has been known for recruiting top quarterbacks since he became a head coach at the University of Central Florida. He has developed Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton III since he joined the Vols and has signed blue-chip quarterback Nico Iamaleava. They've landed a quarterback in each recruiting class under Heupel, which shouldn't change in the class of 2026.

While the class of 2026 is quite new to the recruiting scene, Tennessee already had invested resources into several candidates at the quarterback position. Nashville Christian School quarterback Jared Curtis was one of those names - he ranks as the No. 9 prospect in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings. The Vols were never considered the front-runner for Curtis's services but were in his top schools.

Curtis ended his recruitment early over the weekend, committing to the Georgia Bulldogs during an unofficial visit. He's the second 2026 quarterback to come off the board - Carrollton High School Julian Lewis committed to the USC Trojans as a member of the 2026 class before reclassing into the 2025 cycle.

While losing out on Curtis was news, Tennessee has been heavily courting another 2026 signal caller. Grimsley High School quarterback Faizon Brandon has been to campus numerous times and has developed early relationships with the coaching staff. Georgia offered Brandon within the past few days, and they entered the picture in his recruitment. With Curtis in their class, the Bulldogs taking Brandon is unlikely. The Vols will continue making a big push for him throughout the next year. He ranks as the No. 67 prospect in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
