Four-Star G Ahmad Nowell Includes Tennessee In Top Schools

2024 four-star guard Ahmad Nowell has included the Tennessee Volunteers in his top schools list.

While Tennessee hasn't been attacking the 2024 class, Ahmad Nowell, out of Imhotep Institute, has been one of the kids they are going hard after. Nowell announced his top 4 on Monday, which included the Volunteers along with UConn, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech. In an interview with On3, he said he plans to commit sometime after Peach Jam in July.

Nowell is a confident shooter who does well on the move and spotting up. He displayed his ability this past season to make defenders that go under screens pay. His frame and quickness give me the impression that he can be a good on-ball defender, although we have yet to see if that assumption is true. Rick Barnes' teaching and system could prove to be a huge help for Nowell on that end of the floor.

For Tennessee fans, Nowell will be in action, hopefully deep into Peach Jam. Team Final, Nowell's AAU team, was one of the top teams during the spring on the EYBL circuit. A good performance could see Nowell rise in rankings on recruiting sites, something I think should have happened after his high school season or, at the very latest, during the spring when he was playing well in AAU. While Tennessee was early on Nowell, it seems that UConn now has more of a legit shot, and the race is closer than it was a month ago. Nowell took a visit to the Huskies two weekends ago and a visit to Georgia Tech last weekend. He plans to visit Kentucky as well before he commits. While UConn has jumped into the picture, it seems like Tennessee still has a great chance to land Nowell.
