BREAKING: Travaris Banks Commits To Ole Miss

Safety from Alabama pledges to play college ball in Oxford

After a visit to Knoxville last weekend, 4-star Safety Travaris Banks has committed to Ole Miss. Mississippi State was long considered the favorite for the Alabama native, but Banks will end up at the other school in the Egg Bowl Rivalry. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma and Florida State also had been in the mix for Banks, but ultimately, Banks chose the Rebels.

One of the great traits about Banks is his instincts. As a safety, he loves hitting and getting after the football. At 6'1 and 195 pounds, he fits in very well in SEC as a box safety that can fill gaps in the run game. Additionally, Banks has played corner at Hillcrest and can likely lose weight to develop a better corner body type once he figures out what position he is going to play in college.

Banks' flexibility is extremely valuable. He can play multiple defensive positions, but in high school, he is also a two-way player. His speed and quickness allow him to play running back and some wide receiver. His ranking of 158th nationally and 13th among safeties in the 2024 class is really only because he doesn't have a definitive position at the college level. Regardless, if Lane Kiffin and his staff can find the right spot for Banks' skillset, he can end up being one of the best defensive players in college football.
