Texas Tech Women Set to Begin NCAA Regionals on Monday
Texas Tech’s women’s golf team is seeking to advance to the NCAA Tournament when it begins play in the NCAA regionals on Monday in the Stanford Regional.
The Lady Raiders are making their 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament regionals and hoping to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. That season, the Lady Raiders hosted the regional.
Tech enters the regional as a No. 4 seed. Stanford is the No. 1 seed, while Tech’s Big 12 rival, Iowa State, is a No. 6 seed.
The Red Raiders finished eighth as a team in the Big 12 Tournament, but their Top 25 national ranking helped get it into the regional tournament. They finished with a 54-hole score of 913 at the Big 12 Tournament.
Senior Amy Taylor had the best finish of any Lady Raider at the Big 12 Tournament, as she finished in a tie for 13th place with a 54-hole score of 223. Chiara Horder was just two shots behind Taylor with a score of 225, which put her in a tie for 19th place.
Anna Dong finished with a 229, while Gala Dumez finished with a 236. Chelsea Romas finished with a 250 for the Lady Raiders.
For Texas Tech to advance to the national championship as a team, they will have to finish in the Top 4 in the regional.
The national championships will be May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
