The Texas Longhorns have gotten off to somewhat of a slow start when it comes to their 2025 recruiting class, and on Thursday they lost a member.

Three-star linebacker Anthony Williams took to Twitter to announce that he feels it is best for him to re-open his recruitment, and back off his pledge from the Longhorns.

“First off, I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play this game and have the chance to play at the next level,” Williams wrote. “The University of Texas has been nothing but great to me and I can’t thank them enough, but I have made the decision to decommit from The University of Texas. My recruitment is officially reopened."

Williams pledged to Texas back in January over programs such as Notre Dame, Oregon, Auburn, and Houston among others. According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 533 player in the country, No. 59 linebacker, and No. 89 player in Texas.

According to Inside Texas, he has a visit set to see TCU and Florida.
