AUSTIN -- Texas Longhorns guard Max Abmas continues to prove he's among the Big 12's elite, and he's now got more hardware as proof.

The Big 12 revealed its weekly awards on Monday, and Abmas is once again the conference's Newcomer of the Week. It marks the third time this season he's earned the honor after arriving to Austin this offseason as a transfer from Oral Roberts.

Abmas also won the award during the weeks of Dec. 18 and Jan. 15.

Headed into Tuesday's matchup against No. 14 Iowa State, Abmas is currently leading the Longhorns in scoring (17.9) and is second on the team in assists (4.2). He's scored at least 10 points in every game this season and is third in the conference in points per game and second in made 3-pointers per game (3.0).

Abmas scored Texas' final 13 points in the 77-66 win over then-No. 25 TCU on Saturday, which included a personal 11-0 run after the game was tied at 64 with 3:52 to play. He finished with a game-high 21 points.

Some of Abmas' best individual performances this year have included his season-high 32-point effort in the loss to West Virginia on Jan. 13 after he had 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the win over LSU on Dec. 16. Abmas also hit two go-ahead jumpers in the final 6.2 seconds or less this season during wins over Louisville and Cincinnati.
