Former Texas head coach Tom Herman wasn't able to get Texas back to their prominence that many fans were hoping for, but he did help kick off a run of elite running backs coming to Texas.

The Longhorns got the most out of former five-star running back Bijan Robinson and converted quarterback Roschon Johnson, and they have also struck gold in the ensuing years. Jonathon Brooks waited his turn after Robinson and Johnson, and is now in line to be a first or second-round pick, and both CJ Baxter and Jaydon Blue have shown a ton of promise in their action.

Even with the room loaded, the Longhorns have their eyes on four-star Mater Dei product Jordon Davison.

The No. 88 player in the country and No. 6 running back overall according to On3 recently took a trip to Austin and spoke quite highly of the staff and the scrimmage he was on hand for. He even called out Blue for how great he looked in his interview with Inside Texas

“It was good,” Davison said to Inside Texas. “I got to be around a lot of great players. (Jaydon Blue) looked great. It was a very physical scrimmage.”

He also revealed that Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice made it clear just how much of a priority the Mater Dei product is to him, and opened up about how close he is with the staff.

“I’m still his top target,” said Davison about Choice. “My relationship with all the coaches on the staff are through the roof.”

The Longhorns currently hold five commits in their class, one of which was fellow running back Rickey Stewart who pledged on Saturday. If they can land Davison on top of Stewart, Texas will continue to have elite talent on elite talent in that room.

As it stands right now, On3 has Ohio State as the favorite to land him.
