Greenie basketball has been getting active lately despite the early offseason silence. They’ve shifted their focus to the front-court by signing three forwards over the past few days from VCU, NAIA, and Georgia State.

The focus isn’t just on the players as the Tulane Athletic Department would add two coaches to top off their coaching staff as well.

FORWARD Jordann Dumont | COMMITTED from Virginia Commonwealth University

Onn May 4th Tulane signed Jordann Dumont of VCU. The forward boasts a solid and lean 6'8, 220 pounds and has shown that he can shoot the three at his first school, Villanova.

The Montreal native boasted a career high of 15 points against sixteenth ranked Marquette; shooting 4/4 from three and 3/3 from the charity stripe.

Dumont transferred to VCU for the 2025 season where he averaged 0.9 points and 0.1 rebounds while only playing 2.3 minutes a game across nine appearances. A noticeable jump from 1.8 points and 0.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes across 20 games played at Villanova.

FORWARD Caedmon Bontrager | COMMITTED from Indiana Wesleyan University

The redshirt junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Caedmon Bontrager, has shot a career FG% of 63.5% and 33.6% from three. The highly efficient forward dished for 1.5 assists and caught 9.3 rebounds per game while averaging 20.7 points in his most recent tenure with IWU.

Those accolades earned him an NAIA All-American First Team nod last year. He was also named as the Crossroads League Player of the Year as well as making his way onto the Bevo Francis Top 25 Watchlist.

Bontrager is one of the higher-scorers of the bunch that Tulane has picked up. His offensive value will no doubt prove fruitful for the Wave in the future. He averaged 1.19 blocks in his career at IWU, but we'll have to see how his play translates to Hunter's style of play.

FORWARD Joah Chappelle | COMMITTED from Georgia State

Georgia State University Athletics

Atlanta, Georgia original, Joah Chappelle is a sophomore forward that boasted a solid 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 23.6 minutes in his first year with Georgia State in 2025. He shot 43.6% from the field and 37.8% from tre land.

Chappelle spent his freshman year at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi, where he had a dominant season in which he averaged 16.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks a game. These ridiculous stats earned him the MACCC's Freshman of the Year award, and he would transfer to the D-1 level the following year.

Chappelle has a 6'8 frame that weighs a light 200 pounds. He still manages to find a way to get the boards and can shoot well; traits that give the forward position diversity for the Wave, possibly expanding their offensive capabilities.

FORWARD Carson Schwieger | COMMITTED from Queens University

Carson Schwieger hails from Overland Park, Kansas and spent his first year as a redshirt freshman at Wright State, then he transferred to Valparaiso in 2024, then to Queens in 2025, and now Tulane in 2026.

Schwieger is deadly from outside. The Kansas native shot 43.4% from the field and an impressive 40.9% from three. The forward is a spot-up shooter who's able to nail a shot in catch-and-shoot situations. This easily could stretch the floor for the Wave and not only create shots for Schwieger, but create space for other forwards and guards to slash their way through the paint.

He averaged 10.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists across 34 games and 27 starts. He provides a lot of value with just his presense on the floor, we'll see how Hunter utilizes that ability and makes the most of what he can with it.

Athletic Department Add TU Hall of Famer and RJ Hunter to Staff

Tulane made some final adjustments to their staff this past week with the addition of Tulane Athletics Hall of Famer, Kim Lewis, and former Celtic RJ Hunter.

A Tulane legend, Lewis set the program record for steals (242) and scored a 14th best 1,384 points on 44.5% and 35.2% from the field and three respectively from 1990-1994. He'd rejoin the Greenie family when he accepted a coaching staff position from 1997-1999 and once again from 2008-2010.

Lewis adds plenty of experience to this coaching staff, having coached at the D-1 level for 20 years now. He just polished off this past season by leading Robert Morris to an NCAA Tournament birth.

The other addition to the coaching staff is Head Coach Ron Hunter's son, RJ Hunter, a Georgia State legend, as he's the all-time leading scorer with 1,819 points, the all-time leader in free throws made and percentage with 448 and 85.3%, and the all-time leader in 3-pointers made.

He was drafted to the Celtics in 2015 before going to the Bulls and Nets before travelling to Rio to play for the Valley Vipers in 2017. Hunter would play in multiple leagues across the world before joining the Green Wave coaching staff in October of 2024 with his father, Ron Hunter.
