As 2022 approaches, the University of Connecticut football team’s New Year resolution has been to recruit great talent. Thus far, they’ve been nothing short of finding key players to add to their roster.

One of the many new skilled players to join the program is wide receiver Justin Joly from Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Joly grew up playing basketball originally. However, he soon discovered his newfound love of football and has since played numerous positions.

“The environment and the way I was treated when I met the officials [is what made me choose University of Connecticut],” said Joly. One of the Huskies’ coaches was his host during the house visit, as they talked about how UConn would be the perfect fit for Joly to continue his football and academic career. By the end of their conversation, “it all clicked.”

“I had a great host who treated me like family.”

Besides the college itself and the football team, Joly discussed how excited he is to work with head coach Jim L. Mora. He mentioned that he loves Mora’s energy and how they both have the same mindset coming into next season. “I know Coach Mora is a great coach,” he followed up with.

Joly also can’t wait for the energy and excitement from playing at a big school. Since he came from a private school, the new environment is something that he looks forward to being a part of. One of his favorite aspects of the sport is creating new memories, something Joly is very fond of and looks forward to on the campus of UConn.

“Everything, from being around the guys in the locker and being on the field, all the memories. I will never forget the memories.”
