UConn Football: Huskies Are ‘Boomin’ With Newest Commit

The Hunt for new recruits continues from east-to-west coast, as Huskies land JUCO ball hawk from ‘The Eureka State!’

The Huskies have unearthed an uncommon JUCO prospect, receiving a commitment from ‘Boomin’ Thaddeus Dixon, who lives up to his nickname.

A product of Miranda High School in California, the 6-foot, 187 pound cornerback just finished up his freshman season at Long Beach City College, where he registered 34 tackles, 10 pass breakups, three interceptions and two blocked kicks.

There are no previous records found anywhere of Dixon being a highly recruited prospect coming out of high school and UConn is the only division one program to have offered him a scholarship.

Despite a relatively under the radar profile, Dixon brings some major swag and appears ready to make an immediate contribution. His film is full of violent, explosive plays, many of which result in him lighting up the ball carrier. The exciting defender is ultra-quick in pursuit and demonstrates top-notch change of direction ability, along with sticky coverage skills—he’s the definition of a true ball hawk.

In addition, Dixon is an incredible athlete who owns a 40” vertical jump and has been timed in the 4.4-range in the forty-yard dash, according to his HUDL profile. The Cali native possesses the skill-set to remain at cornerback but he could also be viewed as a strong safety type due to his in-the-box prowess. Overall, his game compares favorably to that of Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Juan Thornhill.

Wherever he lines up, Dixon appears ready to step in instantly and compete for a starting job.
