Former UNC basketball standout Harrison Barnes agreed to a contract extension with the Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN's senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Barnes' extension is for three years and worth $54 million.

The 31-year-old entered free agency this offseason after finishing the four-year, $88 million contract he signed with the Kings in 2019.

Last season, Barnes started all 82 games for the first time since the 2014-15 season and averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and shot 37.4 percent from three. He helped the Kings secure the third seed in the Western Conference and their first playoff appearance since the 2005-06 season.

Sacramento lost in the first round of the 2023 playoffs to the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

As a Tar Heel, Barnes averaged 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 34.9 percent from three from 2010 to 2012. He scored 40 points as a freshman in a 2011 ACC semifinal win over Clemson, becoming the ninth Tar Heel record a 40-point game.

Barnes earned ACC Rookie of the Year in 2011 and First-Team All-ACC honors the next year. He was selected seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2012 and went on to win the 2015 NBA title.
