13 true freshmen played against Clemson

Given that players can now participate in up to four games in a season and still receive a redshirt, we'll update this chart weekly to see where things stand for true freshmen who have gotten on the field.

North Carolina's fifth game of the season marked the fifth game for nine players — highlighted in red — on the roster, meaning they'll no longer have the opportunity redshirt this season.

Running back Josh Henderson and receiver Welton Spottsville saw their first action of the season as Carolina had 55 players listed on the participation report. 

Both Eugene Asante and Emery Simmons saw action against the Tigers after not playing against Appalachian State. 

In all, 13 true freshmen appeared for the Tar Heels against Clemson.
