13 true freshmen appeared at Virginia Tech

Given that players can now participate in up to four games in a season and still receive a redshirt, we'll update this chart weekly to see where things stand for true freshmen who have gotten on the field.

North Carolina stuck around its usual range with 13 true freshmen appearing in Saturday's game at Virginia Tech, with kicker Jonathan Kim making his debut. Two players — Emery Simmons and Eugene Asante — played in their fifth games, passing the threshold for a potential redshirt.

In all, 18 true freshmen have played this season with 11 appearing in more than four games.
