USC Football: Trojans Land No. 1 Edge Rusher in 2025 Class

Defensive reinforcements are on the way.

After possessing one of the nation's worst defenses last season, the Trojans have made it a priority to improve the defense on both a coaching and personnel level.

The firing of Alex Grinch and the subsequent hire of UCLA's D'Anton Lynn represented the first big step in their defensive rebuild, followed by the signings of several high-end recruits.

The most recent and impressive, however, is former Georgia commit Isaiah Gibson, who is the top edge rusher in the class of 2025.

A 4-star recruit, Gibson stands at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, displaying an NFL-ready frame despite not having graduated high school. He'll join the nation's 12th-best recruiting class, highlighted by fellow defensive linemen Justus Terry (5-star) and Gus Cordova (3-star).

Interestingly, Gibson has been visiting other schools since his commitment to the Trojan, going as far as mentioning "I could see myself there," referring to the University of Florida hosting him for a visit.

Given that he was previously committed to Georgia, it's not out of the question that he flips his commitment a second time, so it's a situation worth monitoring, especially with the uncertainty regarding USC's defense.

Outside of Florida, Gibson fielded offers from countless high-major programs, leaving a range of possibilities when it comes to his final commitment ahead of the 2025 season.
