Braden Barry Selected in MLB Draft

The WVU outfielder was drafted by a familiar organization.

WVU's second player is off the board in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Outfielder Braden Barry was selected in the eighth round by the Toronto Blue Jays, the current home of former Mountaineer ace Alek Manoah.

Barry, chosen with pick 244, spent this summer with the MLB Draft League's West Virginia Black Bears. With the selection, he becomes the team's fourth player to go pro this season.

Barry's WVU accolades boast a .282 average through 149 games and 450 at-bats. He finished his three seasons in the gold and blue with 95 runs, 76 RBIs, and 14 homers on 127 hits.

He's Toronto's seventh pick, joining Arjun Nimmala (SS-20), Oklahoma State's Juaron Watts-Brown (P-89), Landon Maroudis (P-121), Connor O'Halloran (P-157), Jace Bohrofen (OF-184), and Kansas State's Nick Goodwin (SS-214).
