Now that the 2020 recruiting class has taken center stage, assistant coach Chad Scott and the Mountaineers have wasted little time identifying talent in the state of Florida.

This past week, coach Scott extended an offer to Port Orange (FL) linebacker Tyler Berrong.

"I like [West Virginia]. When my top-five comes out, they will DEFINITELY be in there," Berrong said about his offer from the Mountaineers.

Berrong plans on visiting in the near future and when it comes time to make a decision, the 6-foot-2, 212-pound backer says that it depends on "how much he talks to the coaches" and that distance did not matter. He also added that he would like to pursue marine science, sports science or a something related to law or government.

As for now, Berrong is interested in winning a state championship during his senior season.

And though Berrong holds offers from Florida, Pitt, Central Florida, South Florida and Missouri, the Florida backer says that West Virginia is among his top schools but the rest of his top-five is classified.
