Women's Soccer Falls in Big 12 Quarterfinal

The Mountaineers struggle offensively in a 2-0 loss to Kansas.

Two goals early on in the first half of play Sunday afternoon turned to be the deciding factor as the Mountaineers fell to No. 25 Kansas 2-0 in the Big 12 Quarterfinals.

The Mountaineers struggled offensively as Enzi Broussard had the only two shots on goal in the match. Defensively the Mountaineers were kept busy as Rylee Foster had six saves in the match.

Kansas took a 1-0 lead early on in the match as Katie McClure snuck the ball past Foster in the 17th minute of action. 

The Jayhawks capped off the scoring in the 30th minute following a failed clearance by the Mountaineers, leading to the goal by Kansas defender Isabella Cavalcante. 

With the loss, the Mountaineers will now turn their attention to their NCAA Tournament hopes. The 2019 NCAA Tournament Selection Show is slated for Monday, November 11 and can be watched at NCAA.com.
