OpTic Texas Stay Hot After CDL Major 3 Homestand

OpTic is starting their run of terror on the CDL. Should they be considered the best team currently?

The main question OpTic needed to answer coming back from Major 3 was if their serious contenders or was the backing of the home crowd was what propelled this squad. It's safe to say that they need to be in the conversation as the best team in the CDL right now.

Beating London doesn't appear to be a daunting task at the moment, but when you hold a team to 68 points in Hardpoint, two points in SnD, and just one point in Control, it doesn't matter who you're playing; those are elite numbers.

They also held London to an overall K/D of 0.72, completely embarrassing them in the match. Brandon "Dashy" Otell nearly went double-positive, while the rest of his squad had a 1.22 K/D or higher. The entire OpTic squad was firing on all cylinders, winning their one on one gunfights and trading out kills. Their rotations and control of each map were on par with the best we've seen this year.

Next weekend, OpTic will continue their Major 4 Qualifiers by taking on the New York Subliners on Saturday and squaring off against the Los Angeles Thieves on Sunday.

New York is coming off a major upset against Atlanta FaZe and also has one of the deeper rosters in the CDL. If OpTic wants to prove that they belong in the top-dawg conversation, they will have to take care of the Subliners.

The match against the Thieves will be another telltale sign of just how good OpTic is. With the Thieves taking care of business against the London Royal Ravens and Seattle Surge last weekend, OpTic might have their hands full but it will be a testament to the potential this squad has.
