Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising was recently announced at Evo 2023 and fans of the 2.5D fighting game are already hype about the mini-games and the return of popular characters. But there’s now even more reason to be excited — the sequel is free to play.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara announced at Evo 2023 that the game is coming out on November 30, 2023. Posts that followed also revealed that there will be multiple editions of the game.

Is There a Free Version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising?

The official GBVSR Twitter page has revealed that the game will be available in three versions:

  • Standard
  • Deluxe
  • Free

Free? Excuse me? The tweet confirmed that, yes, the game will be available for free. New players will be able to enjoy the story, online matches, and even Grand Bruise! tournaments on release day without paying a dime.

It’s unclear what the Standard and Deluxe editions will include and the prices for these editions have not been revealed. It’s more than likely that paying a bit extra will give you more in-game content and maybe even some exclusive merch.

All three versions are going to be available for pre-order starting August 7, 2023. On this day, you can also expect updates to the official site that will provide more information on this unique fighting game.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the PC.
