They said the magic word that everyone will want to hear this weekend. At the first Evo 2023 Friday Showcase panel of the day, Arc System Works announced it will celebrate the tenth anniversary of Undernight In-Birth by moving the story forward in a new numbered entry in the beloved series. No official release date has been announced but it will drop some time in 2024.

Undernight In-Brith II [Sys:Celes] brings back the cast of characters with a revamped combat system and rollback netcode. Online matchmaking has been a key difference maker in whether or not a fighting game can grow a community in a post-COVID world, so the addition of rollback is a big relief for the anime fighter scene.

"We are keeping what's good for in birth but also adding new system to excite things up for the game," said one developer during the panel.
