Country Music Star Luke Combs Slams Panthers Organization for Brian Burns Trade

Luke Combs voices his and the Carolina fans’ disappointments in the Panthers franchise over the last six years.

In an unexpected crossover of music and athletics, country star singer Luke Combs has made frustrating comments about his hometown Carolina Panthers’ lack of success over the last six seasons.

Since the Panthers' last winning year in 2017 where they went 11-5, they have accumulated a record of 31-68, not having a single winning season in that span. After drafting their franchise quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick last year, the team went on to account for the league’s worst record at 2-15.

Even worse is the team did not manage to get a single first-round pick for the trades of perennial RB Christian McCaffrey and now edge rusher Brian Burns.

"But I will say it's really cool to see guys like Luke Combs, you know, show his passion for his team. And I think that's really cool. Just from a player's perspective seeing celebrities and music artists be vocal about the success and possibilities for your team. Saying, 'Hey, let's be better.'"

On this episode of Bleav in Panthers, Jonathan Stewart, and the crew explain how all fans are upset in Carolina, and Combs is using his large public platform to address the Panther franchise. At the same time, however, the crew discusses how there are aspects to look forward to such as the leadership and guys that know football coming in that can make a difference in the short future.

At the end of the day, Stewart appreciates Luke Combs’ public service announcement telling the Panthers organization to do better. It shows that this is a team he cares about always, along with so many fans who are going to stay loyal to this team throughout the years of struggle.

While Combs's public frustration resonates with Panthers fans, his passion for the team underscores the devotion that fuels the franchise. As the team continues on a new path with Bryce Young at the reins, Combs' voice serves as a rallying cry for the organization to honor its fanbase with a return to winning ways.
