UPDATE: Marcus Smart's Injury Status In Grizzlies-Lakers Game

UPDATE: Marcus Smart is doubtful to return, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin

Via McMenamin: "Smart suffered a left ankle injury, landing on Austin Reaves’ foot. He is doubtful to return, sources tell ESPN"

On Tuesday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies are in California facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers. 

During the game, 2022 Defensive Player of The Year Marcus Smart got injured and went to the locker room.

Smart has played eight minutes and has three points, one rebound, one assist, one steal and two blocks while shooting 1/3 from the field and 1/2 from the three-point range.

This is Smart's first season with Memphis after getting traded (via the Boston Celtics) over the offseason.  

The former Oklahoma State star is averaging 13.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.1 steals per contest while shooting 43.1% from the field and 28.8% from the three-point range in ten games.  

He had spent he first nine seasons of his career with Boston. 

During that span, the Celtics made the Eastern Conference Finals five times (and reached the 2022 NBA Finals). 

As for the Grizzlies, they came into the evening with a 2-8 record in their first ten games. 

They are the 15th seed in the Western Conference (last place) and most recently defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 105-101. 

Following the Lakers, they will play their next game against the San Antonio Spurs (on Sunday) in Texas.
