BREAKING: 11-Year NBA Veteran Reportedly Bought Out Of His Contract

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Will Barton has agreed to a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards.

Will Barton has been one of the better role players in the NBA over the last seven years.

The 11-year veteran had been with the Denver Nuggets for eight seasons before being traded to the Washington Wizards over the offseason.

On Tuesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Barton has agreed to a contract buyout with the Wizards.

Wojnarowski: "Washington Wizards guard Will Barton has completed a contract buyout ahead of the March 1 deadline to become eligible to join a playoff roster on a new team, sources tell ESPN. Barton will become a free agent once he clears waivers."

This is excellent news for many contending teams because of his ability to play a complementary role.

In 2020, Barton averaged 15.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest (while shooting 45.0% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point range).

The Wizards did not end up being a good fit for the 32-year-old and he is currently averaging 7.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest (while shooting 38.7% from the field and 38.0% from the three-point range).

In addition to the Wizards and Nuggets, Barton also played the first two and half seasons of his career with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Over 663 regular season games, the former Memphis star has career averages of 11.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest (while shooting 43.1% from the field and 35.5% from the three-point range).

Barton will be a name to keep an eye on for someone to sign over the coming days.
