7x NBA All-Star Announces That He Is Retiring

Seven-time NBA All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge has announced his retirement from basketball.

LaMarcus Aldridge has been one of the best NBA players of the 2000s.

The seven-time All-Star most recently played for the Brooklyn Nets in 2021-22 but has not played in a game this season.

On Friday afternoon, he sent out a tweet announcing his retirement from basketball.

Via Aldridge: "In the words of TB12, you only get one big, emotional retirement… so, on that note…I’m thankful for all the memories, family and friends I made throughout my career. It was one hell of a ride and I enjoyed every min! 12"

Aldridge played his college basketball at Texas and was the second pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Following the Trail Blazers, Aldridge played six seasons with the San Antonio Spurs (before his one season with the Nets).

His career averages are an outstanding 19.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest in 1,076 regular season games while shooting 49.3% from the field.

The 37-year-old never won an NBA Championship, but he played in 72 playoff games with averages of 20.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.4 blocks per contest.

In 2017, he helped the Spurs make the Western Conference Finals.

He averaged 21+ points per contest in seven different seasons, and he shot at least 50% from the field in seven seasons.

There is a good case to be made that Aldridge could end up as a Basketball Hall of Famer.
