Atlanta Hawks Make A Roster Move On Wednesday

The Atlanta Hawks made a roster move on Wednesday.

The Atlanta Hawks were in the news on Wednesday because they fired head coach Nate McMillan after a 29-30 start through their first 59 games.

However, the team also announced a roster move on Wednesday morning.

Via Hawks PR: "The Atlanta Hawks announced today that Tyrese Martin has been assigned to the College Park Skyhawks."

Martin was the 51st overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft this past summer and has played in 13 games for the Hawks this season.

He is averaging 1.2 points per contest on 37.5% shooting from the field.

The former UConn star has spent a large portion of the season playing for the College Park Skyhawks and is averaging 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest in 12 regular season games (while shooting 50.9% from the field).

He also played in seven Showcase Cup games and averaged 18.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest.

His excellent production in the G League is promising and shows that he could one day end up as a rotational player in the NBA.

As for the Hawks, they are currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and will play their first game after the All-Star break on Friday night (when they host Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers at State Farm Arena in Atlanta).

They have made the NBA Playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and in 2021 the Hawks went all the way to Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
