BREAKING: Dallas Mavericks And Sacramento Kings Reportedly Agree To A Deal

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a deal.

On Thursday evening, the 2023 NBA Draft is being held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a trade that will send veteran center Richaun Holmes to Dallas.

Wojnarowski's first tweet: "The Kings are trading Richaun Holmes and No. 24 to Dallas, sources tell ESPN."

Wojnarowski's second tweet: "Kings are sending Holmes into the Traded Player Exception created with the OKC trade."

This is the Mavs' second trade, as they completed a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, which got them the trade exception earlier in the evening (according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium).

Last season, Holmes saw limited playing time, but he is an underrated player who averaged 10.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 66.6% from the field during the 2021-22 season.

The Mavs were a lousy rebounding team in 2023, averaging just 47.5 rebounds per contest, ranking 29th in the NBA, which is why Holmes will be a big addition.

They finished the year as the 11th seed in the Western Conference and missed the NBA Playoffs.

As for the Kings, they will open up significant cap space by moving off Holmes.

Via Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee: "The Sacramento Kings are trading Richaun Holmes and No. 24 pick Olivier Maxence-Prosper to the Dallas Mavericks, clearing up over $30 million in salary cap space."

The Kings are coming off a season where they finished as the third seed in the Western Conference and made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2006.

Therefore, that cap space allows them to upgrade their already talented roster.
