Chicago Bulls Make Significant Announcement

The Chicago Bulls announced that they have agreed to a contract extension with two-time NBA All-Star Nikola Vucevic.

Nikola Vucevic is coming off a solid regular season where he averaged 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest in 82 games for the Chicago Bulls.

The two-time NBA All-Star has been with the franchise for two and a half seasons.

At the start of free agency, Vucevic was going to be a free agent, but on Wednesday, the team announced that they had agreed to a contract extension with the 32-year-old.

Via The Bulls: "OFFICIAL: We have extended @NikolaVucevic"

Before the official announcement, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the details of Vucevic's new contract with the Bulls.

Via Wojnarowski: "Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic is finalizing a three-year, $60M contract extension, his agents Bill Duffy and Rade Fillipovich tell ESPN."

Despite his big numbers, the Bulls are coming off a disappointing season where they finished as the tenth seed in the Eastern Conference and had a 40-42 record.

They defeated the Toronto Raptors in their first play-in tournament game but ultimately lost to the Miami Heat in the second.

Therefore, one year after making the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2017, they once again missed the postseason in 2023.

Vucevic was initially the 16th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of USC and has also had stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic prior to joining the Bulls.

His career averages are 17.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 49.6% from the field and 34.8% from the three-point range in 823 regular season games.
