Former New York Knicks NBA 1st Round Pick Signs With G League Team

Kevin Knox has signed with a team in the G League.

Kevin Knox has played in 31 games this season (for the Detroit Pistons) and was traded to the Utah Jazz last month.

However, the Jazz waived Knox and he did not appear in a game for the franchise.

Knox had been averaging 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.2% from the field and 33.0% from the three-point range in 31 games.

On Friday, the Rip City Remix (G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers) announced that they had signed the former Kentucky star (h/t Alberto De Roa of HoopsHype).

Knox played in Friday's game and put up 26 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and one block while shooting 12/22 from the field and 2/8 from the three-point range.

Knox was the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks

He has played six seasons in the league for the Knicks, Trail Blazers, Hawks and Pistons.

His career averages are 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.2% from the field and 34.1% from the three-point range in 306 regular season games.

The 24-year-old has also appeared in three NBA playoff games.

Since Knox is still so young (and such a recent first-round pick), he could end up getting signed by another team this season (or over the offseason).

The G League will be a good place for him to get playing time while he continues to develop.
