Klay Thompson Is 16 Three-Pointers Away From NBA History

Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson is close to passing Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce on the all-time three-pointers list.

Over the last few months, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has been playing sensational.

The five-time NBA All-Star has scored 74 points and made 18 three-pointers in the last two games and is currently averaging 22.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest in 49 games.

He is shooting 42.8% from the field and 40.8% from the three-point range.

The four-time NBA Champion is also closing in on NBA History.

Through 696 regular season games, he has made 2,128 three-pointers, which ranks him 12th on the all-time list.

Currently, Thompson is only 16 three-pointers away from passing Hall of Famer Paul Pierce (2,143) to move to 11th on the list.

He is one of the best shooters of all-time and will likely end his career much higher on the list.

Thompson's teammate Steph Curry became the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers last season, and the two make up the best shooting backcourt ever.

While the Warriors have won four titles in the last eight seasons, they have had an up-and-down 2022-23 season.

They defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-104 on Sunday night and improved to 31-30 in 61 games.

Right now, the Warriors are the seventh seed in the Western Conference, which has them in the play-in tournament.

They are a half-game behind the Dallas Mavericks for the sixth seed (the final guaranteed playoff spot).

The Warriors will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they host Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers in San Francisco, California.
