James Wiseman's Status For Pistons-Celtics Game

James Wiseman will make his debut for the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday evening, the Detroit Pistons are in Massachusetts to face off with the Boston Celtics.

For the game, they will have their new center James Wiseman available to make his debut.

Via James L. Edwards III of The Athletic: "Wiseman getting his first pre-game work in for the Pistons. He’ll make his debut tonight"

Wiseman was the second pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, and he was traded to the Pistons last week.

After missing the entire 2021-22 season due to injury, Wiseman played in 21 games for the Warriors this season.

His current averages are 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest.

He's also played in ten games for the Santa Cruz Warriors (G League), and averaged 18.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest (while shooting 68.4% from the field).

The 21-year-old has the potential to be a solid NBA player, but the Warriors are in win-now mode, and he clearly needs more time to develop as a professional.

Therefore, going to the Pistons (a team in rebuilding mode) might be the best thing for his young career.

Right now, they are the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 15-43 record in 58 games.

Therefore, they won't be competing for the playoffs and are a team looking to develop players for the future.

As for the Celtics, they are the best team in the NBA (and first seed in the Eastern Conference) with a 41-17 record in 58 games.
