Los Angeles Lakers Make A Roster Move On Tuesday Night

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had assigned rookie guard Max Christie to the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.

When play resumes following the NBA All-Star break, the Los Angeles Lakers will face their most important stretch of the entire season, as they currently find themselves 27-32 and two full games back of the 10-seed in the Western Conference.

At this point, just making the Play-In Tournament would be a huge success for LeBron James and Co., but their aspirations are much higher following what many are calling a very successful trade deadline for GM Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front-office.

Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley, Mo Bamba and D'Angelo Russell join Rui Hachimura as the in-season additions for Los Angeles and all five players will need to hold big roles alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis if the Lakers are to make the playoffs and compete for a title.

While all these new faces figure to see significant secondary roles, as will Austin Reaves and Dennis Schroder, rookie guard Max Christie continues to develop behind the scenes and the team continues to send him to the NBA G League in order to get the most practice time and scrimmage time he can.

On Tuesday night, the Lakers once again assigned Christie to the South Bay Lakers in the G League.

While you never know how long a young player will be in the G League for, the Lakers have utilized South Bay as a way for Max Christie to see more time on the floor and develop further, especially since he is only 20-years-old.

The 2022 second-round pick has gone back-and-forth between Los Angeles and South Bay this season, so he could very well be back with the Lakers in the NBA when they take on the Golden State Warriors in their first game back from the All-Star break.

Playing in a total of 35 NBA games this season, Christie has posted averages of 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent from three-point range.
