New York Knicks Star Reportedly Misses Out On $1.3 Million Bonus

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Julius Randle missed out on a contract bonus.

On Sunday evening, the New York Knicks hosted the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

The game was close, but the Knicks lost by a score of 79-73.

The Knicks have dealt with a lot of injuries over the previous two months, and All-Star forward Julius Randle missed his 18th straight game.

Since he will not play 65 regular season games this year, ESPN's Bobby Marks reports that Randle will miss out on a $1.28 million contract bonus.

Via Marks: "By missing tonight’s game vs. Philadelphia, Julius Randle will forfeit a $1.28M bonus.

The incentive was for games played (65) and New York reaching the first round of the playoffs.

The bonus is now deemed unlikely for next season and the Randle cap hit will get adjusted to $28.9M.

New York will receive a tax variance credit for the amount of the bonus this season."

Before his injury, Randle had been having an extremely productive season with averages of 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest while shooting 47.2% from the field and 31.1% from the three-point range in 46 games.

He is in the second season of a four-year, $117 million contract

The Knicks are currently the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-27 record in 64 games.

They have gone 4-6 over their last ten games and are 21-13 in the 34 games they have played at Madison Square Garden.

Following Sunday's game, the Knicks will host the 76ers (again) on Tuesday evening.
