Sacramento Kings Reportedly Make A Roster Move

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sacramento Kings will pick up Kessler Edwards' contract option for the 2023-24 NBA season.

During the middle of the regular season, the Sacramento Kings pulled off a trade to acquire Kessler Edwards from the Brooklyn Nets.

Edwards finished the 2022-23 season with averages of 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 38.7% from the field in 36 games.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Kings will pick up Edwards' contract option for the 2023-24 season.

Via Wojnarowski: "The Sacramento Kings are picking up Kessler Edwards' $1.9 million team option for the 2023-2024 season, sources tell ESPN."

Edwards was initially the 44th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Pepperdine by the Nets.

In addition to his time with the Nets and Kings, he has also played in the G League.

Last year, the 22-year-old averaged a solid 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 48.6% from the field and 40.0% from the three-point range in 14 regular season games for the Long Island Nets.

As for the Kings, they are coming off a fantastic year where they finished as the third seed in the Western Conference with a 48-34 record.

They made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season and took the Golden State Warriors to seven games in the first round.

In addition, Mike Brown won the 2023 Head Coach of The Year Award.

Considering they have a young roster, the Kings will likely be among the best teams in the Western Conference once again next season.
