Steve Kerr's Shockingly Honest Quote After Golden State Warriors Were Eliminated

Steve Kerr met with the media after the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

On Friday evening, the Golden State Warriors had their season come to an end when they lost Game 6 of their second-round playoff series to the Los Angeles Lakers 122-101 (on the road in Los Angeles).

The Warriors were coming off a year where they won their fourth NBA Championship in the previous eight seasons.

That said, they showed signs of vulnerability all season long, and head coach Steve Kerr was honest about the team when he met with the media following the loss.

Kerr: "This is not a championship team. If we were, we'd be moving on. You can look at the year in total and see all the ups and downs, and there was all kinds of stuff that went on and adversity that hit, but our group stayed together and competed till the end and made a pretty good run."

The Warriors were the sixth seed in the Western Conference and finished the regular season with a 44-38 record.

In the first round, they beat the Sacramento Kings in seven games (they won Game 7 on the road in Sacramento).

Outside of the two seasons, the Warriors didn't make the NBA Playoffs (in 2020 and 2021); they had been to the NBA Finals in all six seasons that Kerr has been at the helm.

The franchise will now go into an intriguing offseason where many eyes will be on their future.

As for the Lakers, they will face off against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
