Victor Wembanyama Made NBA History In Nuggets-Spurs Game

Victor Wembanyama made NBA history during Friday's game.

On Friday evening, the San Antonio Spurs hosted the Denver Nuggets in Texas.   

The Nuggets had control for the entire game, and the Spurs lost by a score of 117-106.  

Victor Wembanyama finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks while shooting 4/12 from the field and 1/5 from the three-point range in 33 minutes of playing time. 

He also made NBA history during the game. 

Via NBA History: "Victor Wembanyama becomes the 2nd player (since blocks were officially recorded in 1973-74) to tally 200+ blocks and 100+ made threes in a season, joining Raef LaFrentz in 2001-02."

Wembanyama has had an excellent rookie season and is averaging 20.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.4 blocks per contest while shooting 46.5% from the field and 33.1% from the three-point range in 59 games. 

He will have an excellent chance to win the 2024 Rookie Year of The Year Award

With the loss, the Spurs dropped to 14-53 in 67 games, which has them as the 15th seed (last place) in the Western Conference. 

They are in the middle of a three-game losing streak and are 3-7 over their last ten games. 

Following the Nuggets, the Spurs will host Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday evening. 

As for the Nuggets, they improved to 47-20 in 67 games, which has them as the first seed in the Western Conference.

They are in the middle of a five-game winning streak and are 9-1 over their last ten games.
