Golden State Warriors Reportedly Almost Traded Jonathan Kuminga

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers spoke about a trade for Jonathan Kuminga.

Jonathan Kuminga was the seventh pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors and has spent his first two years in the league with the franchise.

This past season, the 20-year-old averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 52.5% from the field.

However, he fell out of the rotation during the NBA Playoffs and only averaged 6.1 minutes of playing time.

With the Warriors still in win-now mode, Kuminga is a possible trade asset, and there have been many rumors since the season ended.

The most recent report comes from Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, who says that the Warriors spoke with the Indiana Pacers about a trade for Kuminga.

Via Fischer's article on Yahoo Sports!: "Golden State also held serious conversations with Indiana about trading Jonathan Kuminga, the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft, for a package centered around the No. 7 pick on Thursday, sources said."

Obviously, the deal did not happen, so Kuminga is still a member of the Warriors.

That said, many teams would likely be interested in Kuminga if the Warriors decide to move on.

The franchise has already traded away James Wiseman (during the regular season) and reportedly dealt Patrick Baldwin Jr., Ryan Rollins and Jordan Poole on Thursday.

Over the last nine seasons, the Warriors have won four NBA Championships (and been to the Finals six times in that span).

This past year, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round.
