Carlos Sainz has spoken about the issues with his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, saying that the team are "concerned".

Leclerc suffered from a DNF during the season-opening race in Bahrain and has already had to take a ten-place grid penalty for the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend.

Sainz spoke about the problematic start to the season during the drivers' press conference today:

"It was a tough first weekend for him. But in general, I think we got out of it with a maximum that we could have done.

"Obviously, the penalty of Charles coming into here is not ideal, but it's only the first race if something told us in 2022 is that is not how you started, it is how you finish.

"So we're going to try and build up from there and especially now keep the developments in and try and improve the car as much as possible.

"For sure we are relatively concerned [about Leclerc's Bahrain GP DNF]. I mean, it's not the way you want to start a season with a penalty in race one to break in there.

"This is the first time we've seen this failure in a very long time. So it caught us by surprise. We're putting things in place to to fix it.

"We can only look forward and improve it and make sure that we are also more competitive this weekend.
