F1 fans have hit out at Max Verstappen after he called George Russell a "d***head" after the Azerbaijan sprint race.

F1 fans have called out Max Verstappen for calling George Russell a "d***head" after the Azerbaijan sprint race. 

Russell made contact with the two-time champion in the very early stages of the race causing damage to the Red Bull. Fans saw Verstappen see Russell at the end of the race where he called the British driver out for the contact. 

Russell apologised saying that he didn't mean to and that he struggled with grip, however, Verstappen was not happy with this response arguing that they were all struggling with grip before calling him a "d***head".

Fans have been taking to social media over the moment. One Twitter user called the driver out, writing:

"Max is being a real turnip there"

Another fan wrote:

"That was classless from Max.

"Russell apologised and the d***head comment was unnecessary.

"Yes Russell was more at fault but that’s what you get when you have a dominant car with everything to lose against slower cars with nothing to lose.

"No need to lose your cool over that"

Tom Bellingham from P1 with Matt & Tommy hilariously pointed out that this could form the trailer for Drive to Survive season 6. He wrote:

"And there's the trailer for Drive to Survive Season 6"
