F1 Fans React To Daniel Ricciardo AlphaTauri Rumours: "Just Irritating"
Rumours have begun to circulate today of Nyck de Vries being handed an ultimatum by Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko that if he doesn't dramatically improve his performance with AlphaTauri over the next three races, he will lose his spot on the team to eight-time grand prix winner Daniel Ricciardo.
F1 fans seem to have had a mixed response to these rumours with some arguing that de Vries has not been given enough of a chance, highlighting that Red Bull can sometimes be very brutal with how quickly they get rid of drivers. Whilst others have been criticising the idea of Ricciardo taking the place of what would usually be a Red Bull development driver.
One fan posted to Twitter:
"It's bizarre that they r considering Ricciardo over the actual reserve driver Lawson whos been having an amazing super formula season. I thought AlphaTauri was supposed to train the new upcoming talents, not harbor the older ones of the past" [sic]
Someone else agreed, commenting:
"Not to be that person but this is so annoying bc that AlphaTauri seat is really important for red bull juniors to get their chance in the sport and giving it to a man whose already had his is just irritating"
Another fan argued that although they want Daniel Ricciardo to come back to a permanent seat in F1, they feel it is too soon to fire an ultimatum to de Vries. They posted:
"I really want Daniel back on the grid but shouldn’t they still give Nyck more of a chance? he’s literally still considered a rookie and the car is difficult to deal with. I can gladly say the AlphaTauri is the worst this season"
The rumours are yet to be confirmed by either Red Bull, AlphaTauri, or Daniel Ricciardo.
