F1 News: Daniel Ricciardo Accepts TV Presenter Role Away From Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo and Will Arnett to provide alternate coverage of three Formula 1 races in 2023 on ESPN2

Starting with the Canadian Grand Prix next weekend, Daniel Ricciardo and Will Arnet will present alternate coverage of three Formula 1 races in 2023.

RACER had reported last October that ESPN was considering bringing Ricciardo on board their broadcast team for 2023. ESPN president of programming and original content Burke Magnus was quoted saying:

“He’s obviously a tremendous personality that really resonates with the fans, especially in this country,”

Ricciardo seems excited about his new role. Fans could expect the show to be fun and entertaining. He goes on to say:

“This is going to be a hoot! As you’d expect Will and I are going to have some fun with the show, but we’re hoping it just feels like you’re watching F1 with your mates. We will have some amazing guests, plenty of laughs and with some luck, bring fans another step closer to the sport I love so much. Buckle up America!”

ESPN's Vice President Kate Jackson seemed confident about the new show that would help fans enjoy and learn more about the sport. She said:

“As Formula 1’s popularity continues to grow in the United States, we’re pleased to provide fans with another way to enjoy the sport, and a way for new fans to learn more about it,”

“Daniel’s effervescent personality will resonate on television, as will his hands-on knowledge."

“And we’re very excited to be working with Will. He will bring the perspective of a dedicated fan of F1 to the telecasts as well as his unique and humorous way of appreciating F1. It will be a great combination.”

ESPN has teamed up with Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions to produce the show that will air its first edition on ESPN2 from Montreal with Ricciardo on site. The traditional telecast will be aired on ABC.

In addition, the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas on October 22 and the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 18 will also be aired on the show in a similar manner.
