F1 News: Esteban Ocon Breaks Hilarious World Record After Austrian GP - "GOAT Behaviour"

Esteban Ocon has broken a hilarious record at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Alpine F1 driver Esteban Ocon has surpassed his own record by receiving a total of five penalties during a single race, the Austrian Grand Prix.

A vast majority of drivers were penalised for exceeding track limits, with Ocon being the worst hit - he had an additional 30 seconds slapped onto his race time due to four separate track limit infringements. He also picked up an unsafe release penalty, breaking his previous record of three penalties in a single Grand Prix from Bahrain this year.

The violations were so rampant that the FIA couldn't review all 1,200 offences, causing a delay in the official race results. In his post-race interview, oblivious to his track limit violations, Ocon said:

"No, I didn't [get a penalty for track limits], I got it for an unsafe release. I stayed away from trouble.

"That's something that I never usually get. I never go off the track, and this weekend, I was quite disappointed that I did in qualifying.

"I went all the way up to the limit, three strikes, and then I backed off from there, and I took more margin. And we got another five second [penalty] for something else, so unfortunately, we're not rewarded."

It is not a shock that fans have been going crazy for this amazing statistic on social media.

"When Esteban Ocon decides to collect penalties, he collects them like they are going out of fashion! Scoring a total of 25s in Bahrain and setting a high bar for the season just wasn't enough. He's back and he's beaten his own record with a whopping 30s"

"Congratulations to Esteban Ocon for breaking the record of most penalties in one singular race at the Austrian Grand Prix 2023 scoring 4 penalties.

"The record was previously also held by Esteban Ocon who received 3 penalties in Bahrain 2023 and Pastor Maldonado in Hungary 2015"

"The real war criminal (affectionate) Esteban Ocon breaking his own records that’s goat behavior"
