F1 News: Guenther Steiner Warns Of Drive To Survive Fame - "Got To Be Careful!"

Guenther Steiner, the team boss of Haas Formula 1 team, discusses the adjustments he has made in his daily life due to his increased recognition.

Guenther Steiner, the team boss of Haas Formula 1 team, has candidly revealed the impact that his newfound fame from the hit series Drive to Survive has had on his daily life. Known for his outspoken manner and colourful language, Steiner has become accustomed to being recognised in public, leading him to make certain adjustments to his routine, particularly during race weekends.

While his workload remains unchanged, Steiner admitted to ESPN that he now experiences a difference in public interactions. He shared:

"A little bit getting less stopped on the street, less selfish with people, but otherwise my workload is the same. To be honest, it’s just when you are around people recognise you. Got to be careful!"

Steiner never anticipated the level of attention he would receive but understands the importance of connecting with fans who appreciate his on-screen persona. This recognition also necessitates careful consideration of his choice of dining destinations during race weekends to ensure he can enjoy his meals without interruptions.

Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events, Steiner expressed:

"I always think I was not looking for this thing, I didn’t expect it to come – but it comes, and you just adjust. I think we have to give back to the fans if they like it. I cannot be like now 'Oh I don’t do anything' because obviously they come to me because they like something they have seen.

"It’s a little bit more when you go out, you need to think where you go and where you hang out because on the race weekend going to certain restaurants is not a good idea, because you will not be left in peace."

While Steiner adapts to his evolving public profile, his focus remains on leading the Haas team through the current season. With notable performances from drivers Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg, such as Magnussen's impressive qualifying result in Miami after Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc closed the session on a red flag, he's likely looking forward to seeing how this year develops.
