F1 News: Lewis Hamilton And Charles Leclerc Disqualified After Austin GP

Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have been disqualified from the Austin Grand Prix.

It has been confirmed that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have been disqualified from the Austin Grand Prix following the race. 

Hamilton celebrated a second place on the podium, whereas, Leclerc crossed the line in fifth position. The FIA has now since confirmed that the W14 and SF23 of Hamilton and Leclerc had too much wear on the plank on the floor, and were outside of the tolerance of wear.

This means that Lando Norris now picks up second position and Carlos Sainz third position. Sergio Perez, who is currently defending his second position in the championship from Hamilton, moves up to fourth. Hamilton's teammate George Russell is now fifth, Pierre Gasly takes sixth, Lance Stroll seventh, Yuki Tsunoda eighth, Alex Albon ninth, and Logan Sargent takes his first Formula One points as he moves up to tenth position.

Team representatives for both Mercedes and Ferrari were summoned to the Stewards after the session stating; "the high wear on the skid pads was probably a result of the unique combination of the bumpy track and the Sprint race schedule that minimized the time to set up and check the car before the race."

The official letter from the Stewards states: 

"A physical floor and a plank wear inspection was carried out on car numbers 16 and 44."

The skids shown in the area -825> XR >- 1025 are found to be not in compliance with Article 3.5.9."
