The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been scrapped after horrific scenes of flooding and landslides, and with the F1 world appreciating everything that the sport, its stakeholders, and its drivers have done for the region, we now look to the upcoming weekend of racing. And after a video from Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, eyes are on him as he fights back against those ho put him down. Retreating to his home turf in Mercedes' Brackley base, Hamilton has set about crafting some entertaining content for his fans.

Hamilton is the most recent personality to look over "mean tweets" about him. The concept, made famous by Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show in America, has celebrities reading out negative comments made about them by their critics. And despite Lewis' huge success, he's no stranger to coming up against it.

Being a veteran in the high-pressure world of motorsport, Hamilton managed to find a humorous angle in the criticisms. With a staggering Instagram following of over 34 million, Hamilton is not just a global sports icon but also someone who is accustomed to handling disparaging remarks from online keyboard warriors.

During this pause from the exhilarating circuit activities, Hamilton addressed some of the disapproval he's faced both in the driver's seat and beyond.

"Lewis Hamilton is so draining man. Can’t the guy just say a sentence without curing world peace or just being a mad hippy," read one tweet.

Hamilton retorted with a smile, “What do you want me to say? I’m a positive guy.”

Another tweet targeted his wardrobe: “Lewis Hamilton dresses like a non-speaking extra from Back to the Future 2.”

Hamilton's response came with a defence of his sartorial choices: “There were some good outfits in there," he laughed.

While some online remarks were harsh, Hamilton concluded the video on an uplifting note, appealing to Formula 1 enthusiasts to promote positivity. He went on to say:

“Everyone has a right to an opinion. Anyone out there that doesn’t like me, that’s totally fine. You’re not supposed to love everyone in the world. I wish you nothing but positivity and I appreciate still the comments because they are pretty funny to be honest.”
