F1 News: Max Verstappen Took Serious Risks To Secure Monaco Pole - "Gave Everything"

Max gets the Monaco pole he was wanting, but it took some risk.

Max Verstappen couldn't hide his joy as he secured his maiden pole position in the highly anticipated Monaco Grand Prix. Despite a mediocre first run in Q3, Verstappen pulled off an incredible final lap, making up a two-tenths deficit to Fernando Alonso with a breathtaking display of skill in the final corners, even if it meant hitting the barriers harder than he would have maybe liked.

Expressing his delight after qualifying, Verstappen said:

"I am very happy.

"We knew it would be a bit tricky for us to put all the puzzle pieces together. It wasn't the best start [with a difficult VT1], but we got better and better."

Reflecting on his Saturday performance, Verstappen remarked:

"In qualifying, we had to push fully and take all the risks. The first sector on my last lap was not ideal, maybe a bit cautious in the first corner.

"I knew I was behind and in that last sector, I gave everything and kissed some more walls. I am very happy to be in pole position here for the first time."

With the coveted starting position secured, Verstappen now focuses on capitalising on it during the race.

"We need a good start. It's a short run towards the first corner," he said. "A lot can happen, rain, safety car. It's always chaos. In terms of race pace, at least it looks good."

As the Monaco Grand Prix promises high-speed thrills and intense battles on the streets of Monte Carlo, all eyes will be on Max Verstappen as he aims to convert his pole position into yet another victory. But will the race impress us more than this exciting day of qualifying? I doubt it.
