F1 News: Red Bull Tipped To Dominate 2024 With RB20 Updates From Test Driver

Jake Dennis predicts a dominant season for Red Bull again leading to a potentially predictable championship.

Red Bull's simulator driver and Formula E champion, Jake Dennis, has shared his insights on the upcoming 2024 Formula 1 season, hinting at a less competitive year with Red Bull's continued dominance. His experience in developing Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez's car provides a unique perspective on the team's prospects and the overall competitiveness of the season.

Key Takeaways:

  • Red Bull's Advantage in Speed and Development: Dennis, who has been with Red Bull since 2018, predicts a strong performance from the team in 2024.
  • Early Focus on the RB20 Car: Red Bull's success with the RB19 in the previous season allowed them to shift their attention to the 2024 car much earlier than other teams.
  • Boost for Formula E's Popularity: Amidst the anticipated predictability of Formula 1, Dennis sees a silver lining for Formula E. He believes that Verstappen's dominance in F1 could attract new viewers to Formula E, a championship characterised by closer racing and greater competition.

During an interview with Mirror Sport, Dennis commented on the progress of the Red Bull team ahead of the 2024 season. He explained:

"We've got an extremely fast race car again at the Red Bull team. I would expect us to become champions again, unless someone like Ferrari or Mercedes somehow manages to find about a second [per lap] overnight. I think it's going to be quite a dull season in Formula 1 with Max probably dominating.

"We didn't do any development on the 2023 car after Singapore.

"It's so dominant from Max right now, it really brings new viewers to Formula E. It brings our championship alive because we just don't have that - we have a championship which is extremely difficult and close."

Dennis' insights suggest that Red Bull is well-positioned for the 2024 season, potentially leading to a less competitive atmosphere in Formula 1 once again. His predictions are based on the team's early development of the RB20 and their previous season's success, where Verstappen claimed an impressive 19 wins out of 22 races.
